What is the search engine algorithm?
Knowing the algorithms of search engines, you can get the TOP of Google. Nobody throws away their secrets. Most of the ranking factors are revealed from the constant practice of an SEO specialist.
I will write about ranking components using the example of Google. Since other search engines have a similar algorithm or rely on Google in the delivery of results. The exact Formula, of course, is not known to mere mortals. I will try to intuitively prescribe what is included in the ranking elements to increase SERP.
Old people will not see anything new here, but it will be useful for beginners who start from scratch.
I will try to explain to those who are not in the subject, in the language of an ordinary person, not as the SEO specialist or programmer. I assume that my potential clients have a different education and are particularly successful in their field.
The top of the iceberg that goes into the ranking formula to issuing site positions is — in my personal opinion — purely intuitive, based on my experience, observations and the history of Google:
Naturalness — naturalness — creativity: the human factor — not automation (growth and dynamics) + voice search. The formula of this part of the algorithm is constantly changing, improving every year. Google becomes more adaptive to users.
We meet on clothes and escorted to the mind. Introduce yourself to robots correctly. Getting to know a web resource, collecting knowledge, semantics — this is what you provide to Google (metadata / schema, existence and filling of each element: headings H1, H2, H3… + alternative title alt + title + description). The ranking factor is aimed at internal SEO optimization.
Users can read, watch or listen on the page: texts, photos, videos, audio. Content value includes:
- Narrowness and professionalism (professional terms) topics (synonyms and related words),
- Semantics, stop words, amount of facts & news,
- Spelling, punctuation
- Sentence construction, readability of texts.
There are filters on plagiarism and rewriting of someone else’s content, lack of information and uselessness. The exception is quotes, taken in quotation marks with a link to the site from where you took the text.
To enter the top positions according to the criterion, Google must want to share your subject with his users, people that you provide information. This ranking factor will always be the most important in algorithm chain.
You hit the bull’s-eye with content if: you are quoted, links are put, you have likes and comments.
Words — calls to buy (buy, sell, rent) / view photo or video content, minus or stop words (swear words, mistakes).
Shop, school, cinema or online and online store with delivery throughout Russia: Filter Dove — geolocation. Geographic searches present maps to users (+ Attractions).
Watch — movies, series / online / in good quality. Collocations — accompanying words are important.
Be careful with re-optimization here, LSI filter (instead of a normal human description, keywords and common search phrases are inserted — purely SEO unreadable text.) This part of the algorithm is very important for online and local business.
Geography, language + account details if you are signed in (Pigeon filter).
The ranking factor personalization produces higher results to the particular person. If somebody often uses the same site, then it will be in the first place. However, if you log out of your mail account and delete the history and cookies, then by the identical request, the same resource can be on 10-15th page in the search results.

Usability: open your site, search info and pages, is everything convenient? Can you easily find the necessary information there, intuitively get to a specific page? Navigation determines the degree of visitor interest or abandonment, but rather popularity (returning visitors), loading speed (no one likes to be a waiter), page dynamism + mobile version, relinking and navigation — everything for people, the behavioral factor is of great importance in the search engine algorithm.
✅ Degree of trust
The degree of trust in the domain, information: https protocol (SSL security certificate), time (age of the site and how much the domain is paid in advance), number of pages, growth and dynamics of updates, contact details (several phone numbers, address, maps).
✅ External SEO
I would say it’s Global, but everybody calls it Off-Side SEO. This is a rating of uniqueness and significance in the world (linking web resources and your links to third-party projects), as well as plagiarism of your photos, logo, texts (already considered quotes if you set everything up correctly), the use of a brand name by other web projects, as well as participation in social networks and play markets.
Bought links are always worse than natural ones, but if you decide to put, see how much, how often and where (authority, similar topics). Yes, dead links without transitions are useless or even go to the minus. It is in the external SEO algorithm that most filters are used.
